When Disaster Strikes, Readiness Matters: Venture Logistics Supports U.S. Relief Mission to Colombia

From our Miami warehouse to communities in need, Venture Logistics helps keep critical U.S. humanitarian relief supplies ready to deploy at a moment’s notice.

When a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia on August 10, 2026, the need for humanitarian assistance was immediate. The earthquake caused widespread destruction, displaced thousands of families and created an urgent need for shelter, food and other essential supplies.

Within hours, the U.S. Department of State mobilized a humanitarian response to support the people of Colombia.

Behind that response is a logistics network designed to be ready before disaster strikes.

Venture Logistics is proud to play a role in that mission.

Ready Before the Emergency

Through our work supporting the U.S. Department of State, Venture Logistics stores and manages critical humanitarian relief supplies in Miami for deployment throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. These supplies are positioned strategically so that when a natural disaster or humanitarian emergency occurs in our region, they can be mobilized immediately. There is no time to begin sourcing, receiving or organizing critical supplies after a disaster has already occurred.

The inventory has to be ready. The warehouse has to be ready. The transportation network has to be ready. And the people have to be ready.

That is our responsibility.

400 Pallets Mobilized for Colombia

Following the earthquake, Venture Logistics immediately began preparing humanitarian relief inventory for deployment. Approximately 400 pallets of critical relief supplies were mobilized from our Miami operation on Friday and throughout the weekend, working alongside our U.S. government and transportation partners to move the cargo from storage to aircraft as quickly as possible. Our team coordinated the staging, inventory control, preparation and release of hundreds of pallets while maintaining the speed and accuracy required for a mission of this importance. The supplies were transferred for airlift to Colombia, where they became part of the broader U.S. humanitarian response supporting communities affected by the earthquake. For our team, seeing supplies that had been stored and maintained in our warehouse loaded aboard U.S. aircraft was a powerful reminder of why readiness matters.

Miami: A Strategic Gateway for Humanitarian Response

South Florida is uniquely positioned as a logistics gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. Venture Logistics' Miami operation provides the infrastructure necessary to maintain humanitarian inventory close to the region while remaining connected to major international airports, seaports and transportation networks. Our role goes beyond simply providing warehouse space. It requires maintaining inventory in a constant state of readiness, controlling and tracking thousands of pieces of relief cargo, rapidly building and staging orders, coordinating transportation and being prepared to activate operations with very little notice.

When the call comes, our job is to move.

Logistics With a Purpose

Earlier this year, Venture Logistics supported the mobilization of U.S. humanitarian assistance for Venezuela. This week, it was Colombia. Unfortunately, we cannot predict where the next natural disaster or humanitarian emergency will occur. What we can do is prepare for it. That is why humanitarian logistics is fundamentally different from traditional warehousing. Success is not measured only by how efficiently inventory is stored. It is measured by how quickly that inventory can reach people when circumstances are at their worst.

At Venture Logistics, we are proud that our people, facilities and logistics capabilities can contribute to that mission.

Proud to Support the U.S. Humanitarian Mission

The Colombia earthquake has affected tens of thousands of people and triggered a significant international humanitarian response. For the Venture Logistics team, our contribution happens largely behind the scenes—receiving, storing, protecting, tracking, preparing and deploying the supplies that may someday be urgently needed. Most days, those pallets simply sit ready in our Miami warehouse. Then a moment comes when every hour matters. This past weekend was one of those moments. We are proud of the Venture Logistics employees who worked through the weekend, proud of the partners who helped execute the airlift, and honored to support the U.S. Department of State's humanitarian relief efforts for the people of Colombia.

Ready When It Matters Most.
